FAQs

While I work with a variety of clients over many industries, my best work is done when my specialties overlap with my clients’ needs. Here are a few things to consider if you’re wondering if I will be a good fit for your website project.

ARE WE A GOOD FIT?

Awesome! However, in most cases, having a Facebook page (or other social media outlet) as your ONLY (or main) form of web presence for your business is NOT wise. It leaves you vulnerable to whatever changes they make to their various policies.

We recommend that you have your own website and use social media platforms to direct interested people to your website. There you can control the experience you want them to have.
Indeed you can! Website builders such as Wix and Weebly offer a viable option for some businesses.
If this is the route you'd like to take, we recommend that you also take a look at WordPress.com
We encourage you to do your due diligence on the pros and cons of each; and measure them against the goals you have for your business.

Please be aware that if you wish to use a domain name with your Wix, Weebly or WordPress.com website, you will need to upgrade to one of their paid accounts.
I agree with you! No one NEEDS a website!

Do you NEED a car or any other vehicle? Most of us do not! A vehicle is merely a transportational tool.
While you do NOT need one, having a vehicle probably gets you where you want to go (from point A to point B) much faster.

Likewise, a business website is merely a marketing tool. You do NOT need one, but having a website for your business can help you reach your business goals more easily and more quickly. However, like any good tool, your business website should be well built, properly used and well maintained if it is to accomplish its ultimate purpose - to grow your business.
Empowering you to take control of your marketing is part of what I aim to do with my Marketing Websites.
You will be able to update the CONTENT of your website - add blog articles, testimonials, or events; add images to your photo gallery; etc.

Once your website has been launched and is live for the world to see, you will receive your login details.
I will also show you how to make updates to your new website.
If the updates you want involve the DESIGN and/or STRUCTURE of your website, it would be best to contact me for help.
A live website consists of a domain name (yearly cost), web hosting (monthly or yearly cost) and website design/development (project based).
For our Marketing Websites, the costs are as follows:

Domain Name: you can register/manage on your own or I can do this for you for £25 per year per domain. Web Hosting: your new website has to be hosted by us to qualify for the free website offer and is included within the Monthly Maintenance Care Plan at £25 per month. The minimum contract length is 4 months and then only 30 days notice is required to cancel. Website Design/Development: at the moment, I am offering a website package normally worth £499 for free so long as your site is hosted by me.
I want you to be able to track whether or not people are visiting your Marketing Website. So, I add your Google Analytics tracking code to it. As a result, you will be able to track activity on your website. If necessary, I will first create a Google Webmaster account for you. These services are included FREE in all my Marketing Website packages.
If you want to sell products online, I no longer take on e-commerce jobs — I love e-commerce, it’s just not my specialty. I can, however help you develop the best way to market your e-commerce site, and drive more of your prospects to it.

Likewise, if you’re envisioning a website built on complex functionality (“I want to be the next Facebook!”) that is also outside our scope of expertise.
I'm always happy to meet up with local clients to discuss a project in person, but I know this isn’t always possible. Especially if you’re based on the other side of the country – or the other side of the world!

I will need to discuss a few things before we start, but this can easily be done in a phone call or a Skype chat at a time that suits you.
Another question I get asked a lot. Again, this varies depending on your exact requirements. Some projects can take a few weeks while others a few days.

Once I’ve discussed your project, I’ll give you an idea of just how long the project will take.
Yes, absolutely.

I work with trusted copywriters with a range different skill sets who will have your copy needs covered.
Yes.

I always tell my clients that good photos help me to make your website even more appealing. I work closely with local photographers who can come to your location to take that perfect shot. Failing that I also have the access to stock libraries that can deliver high quality stock images for your website.

This is something we can discuss at the early stage of the project and factor into our prices and timescales.
I can – and in fact this is one of my most popular services.

I understand that not all businesses have the time to update their website and for that reason I offer a website maintenance service, where I handle updates on your behalf. Read about our website maintenance for more details.
No.
That’s a promise. I don’t believe in hidden fees or unexpected bills.

No-one likes to be hit with a cost they didn’t know about. I am 100% transparent with all costs before staring any projects, so you’ll know what you need to pay and when before the project begins.
This is my 14th year in web design! I know what works and what doesn't.
Yes! Being marketing-led means that I am a strong advocate of a good landing page.
